Francis Flower is a major national manufacturer and supplier of limestone powder products, handling more than 300,000 tonnes of limestone filler and other mineral products each year.
CRW works closely with Francis Flower to provide timely and superior service for its customers nationwide. We operate and continually monitor 20 remote silos, from Ayrshire to Cambridgeshire, ensuring product is removed and delivered in the quantities and to the deadlines that customers specify.
Our bulk pressure tankers ship the limestone filler to Francis Flowers' processing facilities in Kilmarnock, Midlothian, Wicken and Gurney Slade, where it is reprocessed. We then deliver the finished product milled powders and granules to customers.
A key part of our service to Francis Flower is remote monitoring of their silos. When the silo contents reach a predetermined level, our automated process is set in motion, loading or emptying the silo on time as required, without any prompting needed from the customer - they simply enjoy a seamless, uninterrupted and reliable supply.
Civil & Marine's Ground Granulated Blast Slag (GGBS) is used worldwide as a key constituent for improving the quality of concrete. In handling terms, it behaves in much the same way as Portland cement, so we deliver GGBS using our bulk road tankers and it is blown into silos by air pressure. It is critical to protect it against moisture ingress.
We operate from three Civil & Marine sites and deliver approximately 1m tonnes of GGBS annually.
The accurate timing of deliveries is absolutely vital, since when customers are working on critical pours, the supply of raw material cannot be interrupted. Consequently when fulfilling customer orders, we plan deliveries with 1 hour time slots.
To ensure this is realised, our vehicles are tracked via satellite, with direct GPRS communication both to our IT monitoring system and to Civil & Marine's SOP system. This ensures accurate real time tracking of all orders and avoids duplication of effort between two systems.
CRW vehicles are fitted with PDAs which receive orders and issue electronic PODs to the customer within seconds of the delivery being completed.
We also provide remote silo monitoring for Civil & Marine. When the contents of each silo reach a preset level, we automatically refill it, ensuring continuity of supply.
Paragon Materials is a subsidiary of Aggregate Industries Ltd., a major producer and supplier of primary, secondary and recycled construction aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete and precast concrete products. We deliver all of the Paragon imported cement in the UK, from three different locations, Glasgow, Ellesmere Port and Plymouth.
CRW is responsible for a critical part of the Paragon's customer service. We receive Paragon's customer orders and liaise with the terminals to arrange loading slots that avoid queues, for more efficient delivery processing. Our IT/EDI and tracking system then ensures that deliveries are made exactly to schedule, each and every time.
Accurate timing for supplying raw material to concrete plants is vital if construction is to continue unhindered, so the penalties for mistimed deliveries are severe. Our system provides both on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
